Sugar Fix Addicts,

Hello! I have good news and not so great news that I’d like to share with you guys. The good news is that I got a new job in Center City (as you all know, I love Philadelphia, so I’m pretty happy about that) and so far, I really like it. As a matter of fact, I would go so far as to say that it rocks. It’s a relaxed atmosphere, but I expect it will get challenging soon and I’m excited about that too.

Other good news- TODAY, October 14th is National Dessert Day! Go get something yummy to snack on and enjoy it! Fortunately, and I’m not sure if anyone has ever told you this little secret, but on National Dessert Day, all diet rules are null and void.

My suggestions (and some of my favs that I’ve mentioned in the past):

Desserts by Design in Audubon, NJ- For any of the luscious little mini desserts that the owner makes daily.

Melrose Diner in Philadelphia, PA- Stop whatever you’re doing and go for the Buttercream Layer Cake. Right now. Seriously. Remember, everybody who knows, goes to Melrose.

The Chocolate Box in Lambertville, NJ- Again, one of my favorite candy stores. Not just your standard chocolate shop, The Chocolate Box has some imaginative and savory truffles and “savories” that I highly recommend.

Philly Cupcake in Philadelphia, PA- Delightful and dainty cupcakes on beautiful window displays, also known as the Cupcakery Boutique. Can’t leave out the cupcakes.

The Last Temptation Ice Cream Shop in New Hope, PA- A very special ice cream shop that is dear to my heart, as before I knew that my favorite flavor came from a place called Thomas Sweet’s in Princeton, The Last Temptation (and the Meltdown on LBI that is now closed for the season) was the only place that I knew where to get the elusive- Chocolate Chip Cookie. NOT Chocolate Cookie Dough, mind you, Chocolate Chip Cookie has got to be my top favorite flavor to date. I encourage everyone to try it at least once, but be prepared for a serious sweet factor. I believe they use brown sugar in this ice cream, making the entire cone one big scoop o’ sugar.

Now for the not so great news- I am very excited about working at a new job, in a wonderful environment with some very nice people; however, with this means that I will be working full time and, as a result, will have less time for Sugar Fix. This is a reality that I unfortunately have to face, but don’t get too discouraged, Sugar Fix Addicts. Of course, I will still continue to make jewelry in my free time and my online shop will continue to run, but the blog posts might appear a bit more sporadic and it might take me a little bit more time to respond to some of your wonderful e-mails and comments. I do and have always appreciated your support and business from the beginnings of Sugar Fix and up until now. I promise not to disappear entirely and I will always share my sweet adventures with you guys no matter what. Check the official Sugar Fix twitter (http://twitter.com/SugarFixJewelry) for more frequent posts of food and fun!

Sweetest wishes,
Kate

P.S.- While I don’t encourage the consumption of a Doughtnut Cheeseburger for health reasons, the video is still pretty cool. Eye candy: http://eatocracy.cnn.com/2010/10/12/fried-doughnut-cheeseburgers-state-fair-style/?hpt=Sbin

Sugar Fix Addicts,

I’ve been busy as always and finally found a local print shop that can print my Sugar Fix tags correctly. For some reason, most print stores can’t line up my tags properly on their machines and, as a result, they print out crooked. I’m still working on the banner, but I think it will look fantastic once it’s done. It should help Sugar Fix stand out at vendor shows, so you can easily find me amongst the other tents. Again, for anyone who couldn’t make it to last Friday’s vendor show, feel free to view the photos from the Sweet Nothings “Thank you” blog entry. My display looked fabulous and I was so happy to meet some of you!

After hearing a lot about cupcake boutiques in the area, I decided to visit Philly Cupcake on 11th and Chestnut. I posted new photos from the trip on the Sugar Fix twitter (https://twitter.com/SugarFixJewelry). Check ‘em out!

I bought a chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream icing, while my boyfriend got a lemon cupcake with lemon buttercream icing. The cake was incredibly rich and dense; however, the icing was a little too thin for me. Personally, I’m partial to a heavier buttercream- something that feels like it has some substance. But make no mistake, taste-wise they both satisfied my sweet tooth (which is hard to do!). I seriously recommend stopping by Philly Cupcake if you’re ever in Philadelphia. It made my day that much sweeter. You can visit their website for a menu @ http://phillycupcake.com/.

And don’t forget, if you can’t bring yourself gain a pound from one of their yummy treats, you can always pick up a pair of Cupcake Earrings from the "Indulge Your Cravings” section of the Sugar Fix website.

Sweetest wishes,
Kate
